Hyperopia

Hyperopia

Farsightedness, or hyperopia - a pathology of refraction of the eye in which images of objects is not formed on the retina, and beyond it. In other words, a feature of refraction of the eye unit with hyperopia is that the rays coming from objects intersect behind the retina, so distant objects farsighted see better than friends. in mind that to obtain a clear image on the retina have to increase the refraction of special lenticular glass

Causes of hyperopia

In hyperopia can be significantly shortened eye axis - less than 23.5 mm - the so-called "short eyes". or weakened corneal refractive power.

Diagnosis of hyperopia

Most often, people suffering from farsightedness, do not make claims on sight. At a low degree of hyperopia (2 diopters) distance vision and near enough is good, but there may be complaints of fatigue, headache with significant visual stress. The first symptoms appear in childhood and seem to be far from eye diseases. Children do not learn quickly get tired, can not concentrate on the performance of work, naughty, bad sleep. Early diagnosis and initiation of optical correction (spectacles, contact lenses) can reduce the occurrence of such complications farsightedness as strabismus and amblyopia.

With an average degree of hyperopia (+2 to +5 diopters) - distance vision is good, but difficult to close.

With a high degree of hyperopia (more than 5 diopters) - poor eyesight, and the distance and near, as all possibilities of the eye, to focus on the retina an image, even far away objects.

Treatment of hyperopia

Correction of hyperopia could be glasses or surgery. Points - the most common method of correcting presbyopia. But the glasses do not provide 100% of vision correction and significantly limit peripheral vision, violate the stereoscopic effect and spatial perception, which is especially important for drivers.

Contact Lenses - contact lenses used to correct farsightedness, which is often accompanied by amblyopia (visual impairment). In these cases, the use of contact lenses becomes therapeutic value, for only the creation of a clear image on the fundus is an important stimulus to the development of vision.

There are several types of operations to eliminate hyperopia.

hypermetropic LASIK - the surface layers of the corneal flap is formed, it swings, and excimer laser vaporize the periphery of the central optical zone in the form of a ring, resulting in the cornea becomes more convex, and hence increases its refractive power, which makes it possible to obtain refractive effect of the operation.

hyperopic pseudophakia - the essence of the operation - the removal of its own lens and installation of artificial greater optical power.
