How to preserve vision when working with a computer/tablet/smartphone?

technology-791029_1280

When working, people often fix their eyes on the screen for a long time without a break, which can lead to insufficient hydration of the eye surface. Insufficient lighting of the workplace, bright light from the screen and monotony of the eye movements can also affect the state of vision and well-being.

Here are some tips, how to preserve vision when working with a computer/tablet/smartphone:

  1. Take breaks every hour, to give your eyes a rest. Look away from the monitor for a few minutes, stand up, walk around the room.
  2. Maintain the optimal distance between the eyes and the screen (50-70 cm for computers/laptops; 30-40 cm for smartphones/tablets). Avoid looking at the screen for a long time at a close distance.
  3. Make sure, that the ambient lighting is not too bright or too dim.
  4. Use programs, that filter blue light on the screen to reduce eye strain, especially in the evening.
  5. Maintain the correct body position - avoid tilting the head and straining the neck.
  6. Adjust screen contrast to reduce eye strain.
  7. Whenever possible, use voice commands or built-in text readers to reduce the need to look at the screen.
  8. If you wear eyeglasses, make sure, that the lenses in your eyeglasses have an anti-reflective coating. It helps to reduce the feeling of strain in the eyes when working for a long time with a computer/tablet/smartphone.
  9. Visit an ophthalmologist regularly for preventive examinations and consultations.

By following these tips, you can reduce the negative impact on your eyes and preserve your vision.
