Conjunctivitis – eye disease, caused by inflammation of the thin transparent layer of cells, that protect the cornea. It is also called conjunctive. Hence the name of the disease.

Conjunctivitis can occur in conditions of polluted and dusty air, under the influence of chemical impurities, in case of non-observance of hygiene rules, with respiratory diseases, and can also occur with diseases of the eyelids and tear ducts, chronic diseases of the nose and nasopharynx.
Prevention, in accordance, consists in timely detection and isolation of patients, careful observance by patients of the rules of personal hygiene and asepsis.

The disease affects adults, and children. In childhood, chronic conjunctivitis usually occurs with numerous follicles in the lower transitional fold (folliculosis). This is manifested in the fact, that the child has periodically “leaven” eyes. Adults also suffer from conjunctivitis. Periodicity of exacerbation of the disease – 3-4 times a year.
